Words fall short.
They say (well a guy called Albert Mehrabian says) nonverbal communication is 93% of communication (55% body language and 38% tone of voice) leaving the actual words at 7%.
Regardless of the interpretation of these percentages in what context, I think we can agree non-verbal communication plays an important role in how we communicate.
It’s no wonder, we use the word “literally” so damn much. Human communication is 93% non-literal.
Also explains why we use emojis to soften our text. “Please call me back 🫶”
Some people are reading this like 😬 “oooh, my resting bitch face says something different while I’m trying to be kind”
or maybe the opposite 🙈 “my sweet, kind tone may sound fake and disingenuous when I’d like to be taken seriously”
while others are more like… 🤯 “holy shit, no wonder I am misunderstood”
My mom used to say, “it’s not what we say, but how we say it.” She was 93% correct 🤣
Love you Mom 🙏
